So far this financial year, as someone who has long specialised in offshore skilled migration, two categories of occupations have genuinely surprised me. The first was the 6 October Subclass 189 invitation round, where all offshore engineering applicants were invited at just 65 points. The second is the ongoing trend over recent months of arts, commerce and business applicants receiving invitations for Subclass 491 and Subclass 190 state-nominated migration, with the majority of scores clustered at base scores of 55–75.

Big News! IT, Engineering, Healthcare and More Could Soon Get a Longer Subclass 485 — At Least 4 Years!

Back in October last year, the Australian Government confirmed that graduates in certain fields would be eligible for longer Subclass 485 Graduate Work visas. The confirmed changes (for the initial grant) were: Bachelor’s graduates: from 2 years to 4 years; Master’s graduates: from 3 years to 5 years; All doctoral graduates: from 4 years to 6 years
