The Department of Home Affairs has announced parent migration quota legislation: the Contributory Parent migration quota (cap) has been reduced from 7,175 to 6,096, and the non-contributory parent migration quota has been reduced from 1,500 to 1,275. Those who need to apply are encouraged to submit their parents’ applications as soon as possible to secure a place in the queue. Given the current processing backlog, applications lodged now will face a wait of at least 6 years. Existing clients who have signed agreements are asked to submit their documents at the earliest opportunity so that applications can be lodged on time.
