As Semester 2 approaches, more and more international students are preparing to set off. For first-timers coming to Australia, the question that comes up most is “what can and can’t I bring through customs?” and “Does XXX need to be declared?” Today we bring you this big Q&A round-up to clear it all up.

In the past financial year, Australia kept inviting offshore skilled migrants at low scores, prompting many long-hesitant applicants in China to start making their move. Having lived through the policy-driven years of 2019–23, a large number of offshore applicants have already lost considerable application time.

On 14 July 2023, Canberra issued the first round of matrix invitations for the 2023-24 financial year, and today, 17 July, it has released the official invitation data for that round!

At the start of the new financial year on 1 July, mainland China’s Subclass 462 pre-applications opened. As in previous years, there are 5,000 places this financial year, allocated through a random ballot. Unlike last year, this year you first need to register an ImmiAccount, then submit your EOI (Expression of Interest) through that ImmiAccount.
