These are all Matrix scores; in theory a Canberra EOI needs only 65 points to receive an invitation (491 with 50 of your own, 190 with 60)

Prerequisites for ACT State Nomination — Offshore

Canberra Offshore Subclass 491 Requirements
-EOI of at least 65 points
-A skills assessment
-One year of work experience in the nominated occupation
-English at four sixes
-Not having lived in, and not having held an Australian visa for, at least the past 12 months (holding a visitor visa is acceptable)

Canberra Offshore Subclass 190 Requirements
-EOI of at least 65 points
-A skills assessment
-Three years of work experience in the nominated occupation
-English at four sevens
-Not having lived in, and not having held an Australian visa for, at least the past 12 months (holding a visitor visa is acceptable)

How Canberra Selects Applicants
An EOI only needs to reach 65 points(491 with 50 of your own, 190 with 60 of your own)
-Canberra uses its own Matrix points system to select applicants, the Matrix no longer has a minimum-points threshold to receive an invitation, and for most occupations — onshore or offshore, 491 or 190 — there is no need to “chase points”
-Offshore and onshore applicants are in separate pools and do not compete against one another

Does it look like Canberra intends to put more of its attention this financial year on the larger pool of overseas applicants?
