Another Week Full of Visa Grants! Subclass 189/190/491 Approved for Many Occupations, Onshore and Offshore — 491 Now Up to March This Year! Subclass 482 Unlocks “New Occupations”, and 186 Is Progressing Too!

The second working week of the 2023–24 financial year is drawing to a close. If last week’s Subclass 491 grants got skilled migration off to a promising start, this week has been a full bloom — Subclass 190, 189, 491, 186, 482… we’ve had them all!

Subclass 189 Grants

Lodged between October/December 2022 and early 2023, across a wide range of occupations, both onshore and offshore.

Subclass 190 Grants

Lodged anywhere from May 2022 through to the end of the year, with most submitted in the second half of 2022, across a wide range of occupations, both onshore and offshore (there are too many to list, so only a selection is shown)

Subclass 491 Grants

Plenty again this week, and a fair share have progressed through to lodgements from January–March 2023
Hospital pharmacist, 55+15 points, offshore, Victoria nomination, lodged late May 2023
Environmental engineer, 60+15 points, onshore, NSW nomination, lodged June 2022
Mechanical engineer, 75+15 points, offshore, Queensland nomination, lodged December 2022
Mining engineer, 65+15 points, offshore, NSW nomination, lodged December 2022
Engineering technician, 75+15 points, onshore, Northern Territory nomination, lodged June 2022
Motor mechanic, 55+15 points, onshore, South Australia nomination, lodged February 2023
Accountant, 70+15 points, onshore, Queensland Small Business Owner stream, lodged late February 2023

Human resource adviser, 50+15 points, South Australia nomination, lodged July 2021

Subclass 491 remains an excellent pathway for invitations on lower points — you can be invited with as few as 50–70 points on your own! There is no income requirement to transition to PR, so we welcome everyone offshore to get assessed!

Subclass 482 Employer Sponsorship

Nominations approved or visas being granted were all only lodged in June 2023 — still lightning fast!

[“Unlocking” a new occupation — gymnastics coach]Coaches in fields such as swimming, equestrian, snow sports and other sports can all go through employer sponsorship, and these occupations on the short-term list are sure to have a direct pathway to PR very soon too!

Subclass 186 Employer Sponsorship

A little slower than Subclass 482, but also progressing to lodgements from late 2022. Remember, Subclass 186 is the one-step-to-PR option among employer-sponsored visas — if you have close to three years of relevant work experience, get in touch!

Subclass 870 Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa

Granted as usual! You can apply for a 3- or 5-year stay at a time, during which your parents can remain in Australia — no need to worry about a parent visitor visa being refused, no exhausting back-and-forth travel, and freedom to plan trips in and out of Australia as you wish

Subclass 600 Visitor visa eased, but still proceed with care

Processing has shown signs of improvement recently, and more non-PR parents — for example, those coming purely as tourists, such as parents of Subclass 500/485/482 holders coming to Australia to visit family — are now getting grants!

But there are still quite a few refusals, so document preparation still cannot be taken lightly! Below is a selection of this week’s grants.

Skills assessments processing as normal

For more details, see: Will points rise with invitations in the new financial year? With Subclass 190/491 quotas not yet allocated and state nomination policies not yet released, now is exactly the time to get your skills assessment ready!
