Most of this week was dominated by news about state-nomination quotas, with the visa backlog meaning this financial year’s allocations can’t really improve.
The FY2023–24 state nomination quotas for every state have just been released, and the state governments have now received their new official allocations!
According to official Hong Kong government figures, over the past six months Hong Kong has received more than 100,000 talent-admission applications of various kinds.
News has emerged in recent days of sharp cuts to state-nomination quotas. Although the final figures are yet to be released, Western Australia is leading a last push to defend its allocation.
Yesterday came a bolt from the blue in WA: after the Commonwealth cut its quota by 70%, the Premier personally stepped in to take the matter to the Prime Minister.
