The latest Top 20 occupations in short supply

Longer training gap: Occupations in this category require a longer training period,The requirements for applicants are high and the demand is high, requires a bachelor’s degree or related diploma + apprenticeship, so there are very few applicants who meet the conditions.
include:Early childhood (preschool) teachers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, registered nurses and electricians. The government wants to attract people leaving the profession through improved pay and/or working conditions, or even migration options.

Shorter training gap: Occupations in this category require relatively short training periods,There are relatively few vacancies for each occupation,Since at least Certificate I-III level certificates are required, it is relatively easy to fill in-demand positions. Occupations in this category includeretail manager. The government will also adopt strategies consistent with the Longer training gap to fill the shortage.

Suitability gap:Occupations in this categoryThere were enough applicants, but many were deemed unsuitable and not hired,This results in that there are still many gaps in each profession.
Occupations in this category include:Advertising, public relations and sales managers, construction managers and civil engineering professionals.
Therefore, friends who are engaged in related positions need to further improve their employment skills and work experience. Just meeting simple academic requirements is not enough.

Retention gap:Occupations in this category experience lower retention rates and fewer new applicants for each occupation, exacerbating the tight demand for each position.
like:Human resources professionals, chefs, child caregivers, and caregivers of the elderly and disabled.
In addition to improving pay and/or working conditions and providing clearer career paths to improve retention,Migration options will also be a powerful strategy.

The report specifically pointed out that the strategy to deal with in-demand occupations will require a multi-pronged approach. In short, in addition to training and wage increases,It also includes exploring migration-oriented approaches, to attract more people to engage in related occupations, andElderly and Disabled CareThis is a current example.

This also means,To fill shortage occupations faster and more consistently, the Australian Government may use migration settings to give students and workers in these fields a clearer pathway. In practice, we are already seeing similar measures, such as priority employer-sponsored pathways for aged care, with the effects likely to become clearer over time.

What industries and positions will be lacking in the future?

The Australian economy has been constantly evolving, and some key trends are promoting the optimization of the overall shape of the Australian labour market. The key trends related to migration are mainly reflected in the following two points.

1. Digital transformation requires more “digital skills” positions
Digital technologies play an increasingly important role in the overall economy and shape current and future workforce needs, withOccupations with higher digital engagement and those requiring specialised data and digital skillswill grow at a faster rate. These occupations are not limited toTraditional IT or technical positions, but also includes things likeAccountant, contract administrator, project administrator, marketing specialistWaiting positions.

2. Population aging and institutional transformation will create more health care jobs.
As more organisations transform into specialist aged care facilities and the population ages, healthcare and social work services are experiencing skills shortages, with increasing demand for high-quality care and personal support services. report forecasts,Employment in nursing and social work services will increase by approximately 145,000 over the next ten years, compared with the current levelincrease by approximately 22%, includingAged and Disability Caregivers, followed byAllied Health Professionals, includeOccupational therapists, physical therapists, etc.

In addition, here are the top 20 occupations in the priority list of professional skills in 2023.
Not only do these occupations currently have huge employment numbers, but they also continue to be in short supply. The list combines data from Australia’s most recent census (2021),If you have plans to study abroad in the near future, you may wish to check out the corresponding courses based on this list, such as marketing, lawyers, software engineers, teachers, and technicians such as auto mechanics, chefs, and electricians.

Tips.

Not a priority? what to do?

Due to limited quotas this year, policy changes and adjustments in each state are also to better adapt to the quota issue. If your occupation is not on the list of priority invitations in your state,You might as well look at the opportunities out of state, and at the same time, brush up on your language and work experience to get more points for yourself and land as soon as possible.

If there are fewer opportunities out of state, your EOI score cannot be tested with a low score, or you do not have a career assessment at the moment, you might as well consider changing tracks. The 482 elderly care labour agreement channel newly launched in May this year, as long as you complete the relevant third-level certificate or higher education in Australia, you will be exempted from the work experience requirement. After meeting the 2-year work requirement, you can transfer to permanent residence through 186 (you must be under 45 years old when applying for the visa).
