NT has just released a press statement confirming it has received its full allocation for this year — a total of 1,650 places, comprising 850 for the Subclass 190 and 800 for the Subclass 491. NT is the first of all states and territories to announce an increase on its full allocation to date.
The 190 has been increased by 50 places; the 491 is unchanged.
Small but welcome news for those looking at NT. NT has also indicated that applications will open before the 24th, so make sure you are ready in advance — the NT offshore occupation list is also expected to be released soon!
Also worth noting in the statement is the line: “The Northern Territory is one of few jurisdictions to receive an increase.” NT is one of only a handful of states or territories to receive a quota increase — which suggests other states may also have secured additional places. Beyond QLD (highly likely), WA, VIC and SA are yet to announce their allocations; hopefully these states will have some good news for applicants as well.
