1. Melbourne Uni Adjusts 2024 Master’s Admissions
Attention to everyone planning to apply to Melbourne Uni in 2024!The Melbourne Uni website has added a brand-new grade conversion tool, which applicants from different backgrounds can use to make an initial assessment of whether they are eligible to apply based on their specific circumstances. (See image below)
The scores in the system correspond respectively to the minimum admission requirement and the lowest score admitted in the past
This adjustment aims to reduce “meaningless applications”, letting most applicants who meet the minimum threshold for their chosen field enter the pool, thereby improving the admissions team’s overall processing efficiency and focusing time and energy on genuinely competitive applicants.
2. UTAS 2024 Up to 20 Weeks of Free English Courses
The University of Tasmania is offering 2024 international students a scholarship of up to 20 weeks of free English courses! If an international student applying for a UTAS degree programme has not met the English entry requirement, they can receive a scholarship of up to 20 weeks of free English courses, helping international students better adjust to study and life in Australia.
Based on UTAS’s English course fee schedule, the scholarship is worth over AUD 8,000.(See image below) Eligible applicants will be granted the scholarship, shown directly on the offer! No separate application required~
3. Changes to UQ Nursing
No Prerequisite Background Required
From Semester 1, 2024, the University of Queensland’s nursing-related programmes have been updated (details below)
√Bachelor of Nursing
√Bachelor of Midwifery
√Bachelor of Nursing + Midwifery dual degree
√Master of Nursing Study
Applications to all of the above programmes have removed the science course background requirement — for example, the science prerequisite previously required for the nursing programme has been removed! So students without a chemistry/physics/biology background can now join the applicant pool too!
In addition, students still need to meet the other academic entry requirements and English requirements (IELTS 7 across all four bands / PTE 72 across all four, or an equivalent English score)
UQ’s nursing programme is ranked first in Queensland and fifth in Australia.Across the entire programme there are 800 hours of clinical placement in total, and students experience a range of placement sites, including hospitals and various healthcare centres; at postgraduate level there are placements across both years, all on a 38 x 8 rotation.
Students will learn professional theory and the latest practical skills from professionals in health and nursing-related fields. The programme develops students’ clinical practice skills so that they can deliver high-quality, safe and effective care during the clinical stage.
4. UNSW College No Longer Accepts Four Language Test Types
From 1 September 2023, the following language test scores will no longer be recognised by UNSW College:
IELTS indicator,
TOEFL iBT special Home Edition,
PTE Academic online,
Duolingo
Take note! Attention to everyone preparing to apply to UNSW College!Applications submitted before 1 September 2023 using the English scores above will still be treated as valid application materials; if you submit an existing application (including a full offer) using the English scores above and subsequently defer or change your programme direction, you will be required to provide a new language score(e.g. a standard IELTS, PTE, etc.)
5. AITSL Officially Announces!
Teaching skills assessment now accepts IELTS superscoring
Teaching is a well-known occupation in Australia for obtaining PR, but in the past many people held back because the skills assessment had relatively high English requirements☹
Good news is here! AITSL officially announces:Teaching skills assessments now accept IELTS superscoring, and occupations such as early childhood teaching and secondary teaching all accept IELTS superscoring!
As a result, the early childhood teaching programme — shorter and faster to graduate from — has become even more appealing! Many people are now starting to consider an early childhood teaching GD~
Institutions currently offering this programme include VU, Swinburne University of Technology and SCU — come and message us for a chat!
6. Five University of Sydney Professors Win
the 2023 Young Tall Poppy Awards
