The two years of COVID dealt offshore applicants their biggest blow by sharply narrowing direct permanent residency pathways. The Migration Institute of Australia (MIA, which primarily represents registered migration agents in communications with the Department) notified the industry last week that while the legislation has not yet been finalised in detail, they expect that from 1 July 2022–23 financial year, applications for the Subclass 485 Graduate Work visa will not require a skills assessment and can proceed smoothly.
