It's that time of year again — the end-of-financial-year wrap-up and update on parent migration processing progress. Over the past year, COVID has kept many families separated from their parents, and this situation could well continue for at least another year. To make matters worse, parent migration quotas have also been slashed heavily both this past year and in the coming financial year — the paid parent migration allocation was cut from 6,096 places to 3,600 (a reduction of more than 40%), while the queue-based parent migration allocation was cut from 1,275 to just 900 (a 30% reduction). The direct result is that parent migration processing progress over the past year can only be described as snail's pace.
