Recently, Canada’sBCgovernment announced that itsTech Pilot programwill become apermanent program, to help BC tech companies and offices continue to recruit international talent effectively. For Chinese applicants,this adds yet another new pathway to migrate to Canada!

According to the latest published statistics, the Tech Pilot program has helpedmore than 6,000 overseas applicantsobtain Canadian permanent residency. Making the tech program permanent will help attract entrepreneurs and skilled workers from around the world, drive the development of the local tech industry, and bring more employment opportunities for BC residents.

BCPNP Tech application requirements are largely consistent with those of BC’s other provincial nomination programs — applicants must belong to the relevant in-demand occupation list. The specific29 in-demand occupationsare as follows:

BCPNP Tech

Standout advantages

Compared with other BCPNP categories, the BCPNP Tech category has the following advantages:

1. Fast processing time

BCissues invitations to candidatesevery week, and after receiving an application, the provincial government immediately assigns it to a dedicated Tech Pilot processing team,with processing completed within 1 to 3 months,so applicants receive their provincial nomination invitation letter with minimal wait time;

2. Stable policy

BC’s migration policyhas seen almost no major changes or adjustments, and the occupation list has only been adjusted once, greatly reducing concerns about policy changes;

3. Low invitation score and low application requirements

Compared with the standard category, the Tech category has consistently maintaineda low score threshold for acceptance, and therequirements for applicants are also considerably lower, so applicants with weaker profiles can still apply.

■  Basic profile:38 years old, master’s degree from China, software engineering major

IELTS score:Listening 6, Writing 5, Reading 6.5, Speaking 5.5

Nominated occupation: NOC 2174 Computer Programmers and Interactive Media Developers Software Developer

Work experience:8+ years

Application background: The client initially considered skilled migration but never followed through, missing many opportunities. Only after the policy was adjusted did they begin preparing the relevant documents, but by then it was already too late —after waiting around a year without receiving an invitation, they eventually gave up and switched to an employer-sponsored program. After analysis we recommended the BCPNP Tech category,which has a low score threshold and fast processing, and would allow them to land in Canada as soon as possible to sort out their child’s education!

Through the joint effort and cooperation between us and the client,the client secured an employer offer within two weeks.The employer is an IT company based in Vancouver, run entirely by Western staff, with a turnover of close to CAD 4 million. Both sides were very satisfied after the interview,and the employer was also very cooperative, hoping the applicant could land in Canada as soon as possible.

Our documentation team was also extremely efficient, promptly helping the client gather and organise materials and register into the pool to await invitation. They were successfully selected just a week later,and three months after the full application was submitted, the provincial nomination was successfully approved!

Because of the pandemic, Canada now has the most relaxed migration policies and the highest migration quotas in its history. If you’re planning to migrate to Canada, please contact us for an assessment as soon as possible!
