Before change:There is no direct channel for 482 visa holders with occupations on the STSOL (short term) list to transfer to permanent residency.

After the change:Subclass 482 TSS holders whose nominated occupation is on any list of MLTSSL/STSOL/ROL/labour agreement, as long as they are ANZSCO occupations, have the opportunity to transfer to permanent residency (186 TRT)

1. Direct benefits to the first group of people: those who already hold 482 and their occupation is on the short-term list can transfer to permanent residency.

This applies to applications submitted to 186 TRT on or after November 25, 2023, and also applies to 186 TRT applications that have been submitted before but have not been processed on November 25, 2023.

There are currently 215 occupations on the short-term list, all of which have the opportunity to obtain permanent residency through employer sponsorship.
