Can Sales and Finance Professionals Migrate to Australia? Yes! Low Points + Plenty of Options — Find the Skills Assessment That Matches Your Role!

Australia’s 2023-24 financial year is just one month old, yet Canberra (ACT) has already released the first Matrix pre-invitation round of the new year, right on schedule. Judging by the nominated occupations and invitation scores from that first round, it is remarkably welcoming to offshore applicants — especially for the relatively less-common occupations that are nonetheless very common back home.

In our last article we looked together at the most popular industries back home — marketing and administration — and their pathways to migrating to Australia. If you’re interested, take a look here: Marketing, advertising, HR, administration, management, copywriting and other common industries are all great migration prospects now — from as little as 65 points! Occupations matched to pathways, all in one guide!

Without further ado, today we share the sales and finance industries — sales first, then finance.

The Sales Industry
Sales roles exist across every industry — retail, services, real estate, medical devices and many more — making it a hugely important field.
In Australia, sales roles are broken down into specific nominated occupations according to the product being sold — but these occupations generally have no migration pathway available. Don’t be discouraged just yet: try looking at it from a different angle, starting from your actual duties and responsibilities, to see whether a more suitable occupation is open to you.

Within financial institutions, beyond the front-office derivatives roles mentioned above, there are also back-office roles such as risk control and compliance — for which this occupation is worth considering. The assessing authority does not set out the duties for this occupation explicitly, but from the description of the occupation group we can infer that it is defined as a role covering duties such as collating information and filing documents.
Last financial year the minimum invitation score was 65. This occupation currently covers a fairly broad scope, so if you feel your duties are at all relevant, we welcome you to get in touch.

Assessing authorities change constantly, and lately various nominated occupations have seen a steady stream of requests for further information. In the hands of someone without professional expertise, a single misstep can make the rest of the migration journey far harder.

So leave the professional work to the professionals — that is how you complete the first step of the migration journey quickly and successfully.
