After a month-long delay, New South Wales has finally issued the first round of invitations for the 2023–24 financial year — the last state to do so. After much anticipation, the NSW Subclass 190 invitations have arrived at last!

Invitations began going out from around 3:30 pm. At the time of writing, the confirmed invitation data remains quite limited, with most invitations concentrated in nursing/midwifery/social work and healthcare-related occupations. The only ICT-related invitation we have seen reported is an ICT Support Engineer with 100+5 points. Among the confirmed data, offshore applicants appear to make up the majority of those invited.

The invitations have finally arrived, but there is not much to analyse just yet. What we can say is that the numbers in this round were modest, leaving plenty of room for subsequent rounds. We can only hope the next round comes sooner rather than later!

Some have also asked about the Subclass 491. NSW has not yet finalised its Subclass 491 policy for this financial year, and significant policy changes are expected. No invitations will be issued for the time being — even if you have already lodged an EOI, it is unclear whether it will count. Once the policy is confirmed, invitations will follow.
