Victoria Issues ROI Invitations
Today, 9 October, Victoria released its first round of invitations for the 2025–26 program year. The volume was moderate — not standout in any single occupation — with invitations spread across accounting, IT/computing, early childhood education, civil engineering, and more.
Because this round came after a six-month pause, and was issued under an interim allocation of only 380 places, Victoria took a cautious approach this round, with the clear objective of selecting candidates across all occupations who already hold a skilled role within the state, placing them at the highest priority — an understandable stance. Where the occupation itself is highly competitive, the required salary threshold naturally rose. At this intake size, it was obviously not possible to sweep up every candidate sharing the same occupation, profile, and conditions.

Canberra
Canberra has released its latest occupation list — reduced from the previous 152 unit groups (sharing the first four digits of ANZSCO) down to 105. This also makes it the first state to carry out a major overhaul of its state-nomination occupation list to date.
Canberra has already issued its first round of invitations, which was still run against the previous list; the next round will apply the new list. The timing of that round has not yet been set — the state government has indicated it is waiting to receive its full allocation.
