World-class universities + migration, starting ahead of the pack! Choose these majors at these Go8 universities — low entry barriers, high-level qualifications, and high-priority state nomination invitations!

For students preparing to study in Australia or wanting to do another degree, while consideringa prestigious university and a major they love, many also hope to have the chance to getAustralian PR after graduation, so they can live, work and settle in Australia. So are there regions where you can fulfil the dream of attending a Go8 university, study a good major that’s easy to find work in, and also enjoy a strong migration advantage?

The answer is yes! This article will introducemigration-friendly majors at Go8 universities in regional areas(and many postgraduate migration-friendly programmesdon’t require a related bachelor’s background)

Designated regional areas aren’t actually “remote” or “far away”

Here, we’d also like to explain that “regional” doesn’t mean poor or underdeveloped —many areas are classified as regional because falling birth rates have left local labour shortages and created huge demand for outside talent — in fact, many capital cities fall under designated regional-area classifications. The government also encourages international students to live, study and work locally, and offers migration or work-visa benefits accordingly.

Advantages for international students in the new regional areas

1. The chance to apply for a 190 or 491 visa as a graduate in that state after graduation

2. Graduates in the new regional areas have the opportunity to gain an extra year on their work visa

3. 5 bonus points for 2 years of study in a regional area

Beyond the migration advantages, the expanded regional-area classification also brings a number of excellent universities within its scope — meeting students’ needs for both study and migration.

ANU is located in Australia’s capital, and under the new regional-area classification, the ACT falls within a regional jurisdiction — giving ANU students a migration advantage after graduation.
