Duration:

Students with a postgraduate business background, who apply for the 1.5-year MBA, may be eligible for credit exemptions — potentially reducing the programme to just six months.

Students from non-business backgrounds may also apply for credit exemptions based on their prior study.

 

Scholarships are available covering 20% of tuition fees, with a maximum scholarship of up to 30%!

 

This gives students the opportunity to obtain a 2-year qualification or activate the Subclass 485 Graduate Work visa through the MBA programme.

Managing People and Teams:Focuses on the development of knowledge and skills to identify, analyse, and make effective decisions regarding interpersonal issues within organisations, support employee development, and build and sustain effective teams in complex, diverse, and increasingly globalised operating environments.

 

Dynamic Leadership:Provides students with a foundation in leadership theory, styles, and approaches, and offers opportunities throughout the programme to assess and develop their own leadership style.

 

Financial Management:Covers how to use financial information for internal decision-making. Students learn to apply financial theory and principles to the analysis of key business problems, including capital budgeting, cost of capital, risk, capital structure, dividend policy, and corporate valuation.

 

MBA graduates leave with the skills and knowledge to critically analyse core business functions, synthesise and implement strategic processes, manage risk, and lead complex teams. MBA graduates are typically appointed to senior industry positions or go on to successfully establish their own businesses.

Master of Business Information Systems

This programme is accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS),and upon completion, combined with 1 year of work experience or a Professional Year programme, you will be eligible to pass the skills assessment.


Compared with business programmes that are not accredited by ACS, Torrens University’s programme offers greater peace of mind.

 

The programme is originally set at 2 years,but students with a postgraduate business background can apply for credit exemptions — no IT background is required, a business background alone qualifies!

 Many students can have six months to one year (or more) of study credited, significantly reducing the overall programme duration.(Please contact a consultant for an individual assessment of your credit exemption eligibility.)



Even after credit exemptions, students keen to complete their skills assessment quickly can accelerate their studies further.

 

This programme offers flexible intake dates,with four intakes per year in February, May, September, and November, allowing you to commence at a time that suits your schedule.

Systems Analysis and Design:Introduces the activities, techniques, and methods used to design information systems that, when built, enhance an organisation’s ability to achieve its business objectives using available technologies. Topics include defining system requirements, system models and design blueprints (covering planning and implementation), and object-oriented analysis and design to translate user requirements into system designs. Unified Modelling Language (UML) is used throughout the subject to foster user empathy.

 

Principles of Programming:Introduces programming as a tool for developing systems and meeting business requirements. Topics include using an integrated development environment (IDE) to create, compile, test, and run programs, and applying object-oriented concepts to build classes and methods. The curriculum is tailored to students’ proficiency levels and exposes them to various programming languages to develop their understanding of business requirements. UML diagrams are used in application design.

 

Business Process Management and Systems:Explores various business process management theories and systems, including quality control, IT, and management theory. Discusses promising technologies for next-generation e-commerce and enterprise systems and demonstrates practical tools used in business environments, such as SAP and Oracle applications. Emphasises the integration of software technologies and relationships to build interfaces that business managers can use.

 

The curriculum clearly emphasises practical relevance, helping students enhance their employability. Students are introduced early to the hands-on tools they are likely to use in their future careers.
