WA State Nomination’s ‘Hidden’ Benefits — Popular Occupations Invited at 70–80 Points! No Mandatory Work Requirement, More Subclass 190 Invitations — See How the Local Graduate Stream Works!

This financial year, states have been competing fiercely to attract skilled migrants,Western Australiawas the first to announce its state nomination policy. After observing other states successively lowering their requirements, WA has also revised its state nomination criteria, significantly lowering the threshold!

If you did not graduate in WA (you may apply under the General Stream),compared with other states’ nomination requirements, WA’s greatest advantage is:
the Subclass 491 does not require a job offer and has no mandatory work-related requirement. Additionally, interstate students who relocate to WA to lodge a state nomination application also face no minimum residency requirement.
The WA Subclass 190 requires a six-month full-time job offer in the nominated occupation or a closely related occupation, and an IELTS score of 6 in each band (PTE accepted).

“Lower requirements More invitations Lower scores

Local graduates

Requirements for the Graduate Stream
-Completed at least two years of study in Western Australia
-IELTS 6 in each band (PTE accepted)

More occupations More Subclass 190 invitations
Not only that, the nominated occupations available under the local graduate stream are broader, with 331 eligible occupations(the General Stream has nearly 300), and invitation scores are lower!
On 25 November, WA issued a new round of pre-invitations. For the Stream 2 available to interstate students, 1,037 Subclass 491 and 463 Subclass 190 invitations were issued. For local higher education graduates, 1,069 Subclass 190 and 327 Subclass 491 invitations were issued;for local VET graduates, 376 Subclass 190 and 260 Subclass 491 pre-invitations were issued, meaning that more than 2,000 pre-invitations were issued to local graduates in total — with the majority being Subclass 190!

Lower invitation scores!
In the same round last Friday, most occupations in accounting, engineering, computing, and similar fields under the General Stream were invited at 85–90 points, while under the local graduate stream:
Accountant (General) (221111) 80
Analyst Programmer (261311) 85
Chemical Engineer (233111) 80
Civil Engineer (233211) 80
Computer Network and Systems Engineer (263111) 80
Database Administrator (262111) 70
Electrical Engineer (233311) 80
Finance Manager (132211) 80
ICT Business Analyst (261111) 80
Quantity Surveyor (233213) 70
Registered Nurses nec (254499) 80

most occupations were invited at EOI scores of 70–80, and the majority were Subclass 190!

So, while WA welcomes interstate graduates, it has not forgotten to give priority to local graduates!
