So today, let’s talk abouthow to use your high school results to apply for undergraduate entry to a top Australian university!

You’ve probably heard of Australian foundation programmes — but what exactly are they?

A university foundation programmeis designed for international students who do not yet meet the direct entry requirements for an undergraduate degree, and it is also one of the key pathways for high school students to gain entry to their preferred university.

Is a foundation programme considered part of a university?

Under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), foundation programmes are not included — so strictly speaking, a foundation qualification is not a university-level credential, and being offered a place in a foundation programme does not equate to being admitted to the university itself.Universities typically package foundation and undergraduate programmes together, and the majority of studentswho complete the foundation programme and meet the required grades can proceed smoothly into their undergraduate degree.

The great advantage of a foundation programme is that it lets you completely sidestep the highly competitive Chinese Gaokao — and the Australian equivalent!!!!

A foundation programme is a transitional course. Students use the time to adapt to the Australian academic environment and way of life, build their English communication skills, and lay the groundwork for university study and campus living — so the shift into an undergraduate degree doesn’t come as a shock.

Many leading Australian universities established foundation programmes early on, with well-developed teaching and progression systems. Below we introducea number of foundation programmes at prominent universities.
