South Australia has also announced that its Subclass 190 places for this financial year are exhausted and that skilled migration applications will close on 8 June. Applicants who have already lodged are being offered the following options:
– Carry over to receive an invitation in the next financial year;
– The option of a Subclass 491 nomination in the current financial year;
– A full refund of the application fee.
Looking at this financial year’s invitation results, whether under Subclass 189 or the various state nominations, occupations such as nursing and early childhood education have consistently been in strong demand in Australia — almost an invitation as soon as you lodge. Secondary school teachers have likewise been highly sought after in recent years, with Australia facing a serious shortage of these professionals.
State nomination in most states has now closed or is about to close for this financial year, and invitations are drawing to a close. For anyone who has not yet started preparing for migration, we stress once again:
Start your skills assessment as early as possible and get your English results ready — invitations can be issued at any time once the new financial year begins. Beyond Subclass 189, keep a close eye on the state-nomination opportunities in every state.
For those who have already secured their visa, congratulations. For those who have not yet — and even those who are not yet in the EOI pool — do what you can, get your documents in order, and check that none of your materials have expired. An invitation could arrive at any time, so be ready.
We look forward to hearing more good news from everyone in the new financial year!
