Last Three Months of the Financial Year — These State-Nomination Programmes Still Have Plenty of Opportunities! Finance, Admin, Manager and Business/Commerce Occupations Secure PR at 65 Points!

In Australia, the financial year runs from 1 July to 30 June the following year. With only three months of this financial year left, everyone is anxious about the invitation situation — but in fact there are still opportunities remaining in the state-nomination programmes below! Over the past two years, the pandemic delayed the policy updates for the 2022-23 financial year, but this has done nothing to dampen the Department of Home Affairs’ appetite for skilled applicants! Throughout most of this year, to address Australia’s domestic labour shortage, every invitation round has focused on offshore applicants, and visa processing speeds have increased dramatically — all aimed at helping offshore skilled applicants enter Australia quickly!

Looking at the bigger picture,

there are still opportunities in the state-nomination programmes below!

《New South Wales (NSW)》

Capital city: Sydney

In the latest round of Subclass 190 visa pre-invitations in NSW, we can see that several business and commerce occupations secured PR with a minimum of 60+5 points! For example, Conference and Event Organiser, Program or Project Administrator, Information and Organisation Professional, Health Care Manager, Financial Investment Adviser, and Child Care Centre Manager, and more.

With at least one round running steadily each month, several of our applicants lodged their EOI just two weeks before an invitation round and had the chance to be invited in the very next round.

If you can only reach 50 base points, the NSW Subclass 491 is still well worth considering, as many 50-point applicants have already received NSW Subclass 491 state-nomination invitations.

《Victoria (VIC)》

Capital city: Melbourne

Victoria has announced that new ROI lodgements for the 2022-23 financial year will be suspended from 5 May, and it is highly likely that May will be the final ROI invitation round. As at the end of February, Victoria’s state-nomination quota was ample, with close to 5,000 places still available at that point. After the fast-track stream was announced, a large number of the invited occupations were on the priority-processing list.

However, across the earlier rounds of Subclass 190 pre-invitations, we have seen a good number of business and commerce occupations being invited, for example Private Tutor, Financial Investment Adviser, and Copywriter, and more. Below is the invitation data from the earlier rounds ↓

And for IT applicants:

Occupation: System Analyst

Points: 70+5

Background: Offshore applicant. Invited for VIC Subclass 190 on 1 February.

《Canberra (ACT)》

Capital city: Canberra

Canberra is set to lower its application prerequisites soon, most likely including the work-experience and English requirements for offshore applicants — stay tuned!

As the first state-nomination programme to confirm its policy and begin inviting this financial year, Canberra has by far the clearest invitation points and occupations. In recent months invitation scores have settled at the minimum, and even popular occupations such as IT and engineering have been invited for the Subclass 491 with a Matrix score of 60.Less common occupations have even reached PR quickly on as little as the minimum of 50 points, so if you want a fast path to PR, Canberra remains a great choice.

We expect next year’s policy settings to remain very favourable for points-based skilled migration. If you don’t manage to lodge your EOI this financial year, you can simply set your sights on next year’s policy — what we need to do now is complete your skills assessment early and your English, then be ready to lodge as soon as a policy opens!

Several skills assessments were approved today — if you keep hesitating, you may miss out on a prime window for points-based skilled migration!
