NSW 190 latest round — invitations from as low as 65 points! Organisation/management/HR/PR and other “niche” occupations invited in bulk offshore! Auditing back again at 85 raw!

On 4 April Victoria ran a small ROI pre-invitation round, and on 5 April NSW 190 followed — it seems the officers all want a quiet, long Easter break.

This NSW round was a bit more generous than Victoria’s. There were no new faces among the invited occupations and no big surprises on the points either, but this round visibly issued more invitations to the relatively niche occupations, with most applicants offshore and scores in the 65–80 point range.

For a summary of invitations up to the afternoon of 6 April 2023, see below

– Niche occupations appeared frequently in this round, for example organisation, HR, PR and management, a fair share of them offshore, with invitation scores as low as 65 points
Finance continued to receive invitations, with the lowest externally gathered invitation at 75+5 points. Finance was driven up by NSW this financial year, and invitation scores are now higher than at the start of the year
Auditing kept getting invitations at 85 raw, with both our onshore and offshore clients invited, while Accounting returned to 95 raw
Engineering and construction also saw some invitations, with raw scores needing to be in the 80–85 range
– No ICT invitations seen for now
– There were also some trade occupations, such as motor mechanics and carpenters — an “old habit” for NSW by now
At a meeting in late March, the NSW state-nomination lead said the 190 quota was already 75% used and that invitations would keep coming. So NSW 190 will now proceed steadily until the quota is fully used, leaving little room for a big surge of invitations or a major drop in points. The frequency is more likely to stay at roughly one round per month, possibly with targeted invitations like this round.

If you don’t want to wait, or you’re tired of the grind
great NSW 491 opportunities are coming up soon!
There will be many more large-scale invitation rounds ahead
