Recently we have had a number of fully offshore MINT applicants receive invitations, and at the same time many clients in China are looking for ahigh-certainty pathwayto migrate to Australia. So today let’s take a look at theNorthern Territory MINT programme(offshore stream)as a migration pathway!
As is well known, whether onshore or offshore, within the skilled migration framework, aside from nursing, social work, early childhood education, and engineering occupations that can receive invitations at lower scores under Subclass 189 Skilled Independent / Subclass 190 state nomination, most other occupations under Subclass 189/190,at65 points having a reasonable chance of receiving an invitationis relatively low. This financial year, attention has gradually shifted toMINTabove, becauseall eligible occupations can receive an invitation at a lower scorethrough MINT,obtaining a Subclass 190 permanent visa.
· All skilled migration occupations can use MINT
Occupations eligible to apply for the Northern Territory MINT include, but are not limited to: accountant, computer professional, contract administrator, customer service manager, marketing specialist, hotel manager, restaurant manager, human resources consultant, and more.
Many occupations have virtually no chance of receiving an invitation through standard state nomination, yet can readily receive an invitation through MINT!
Let’s now look in detail at this migration pathway — the Northern Territory MINT (offshore stream).~
· MINT — Offshore: Basic Requirements
The Northern Territory MINT is a skilled migration programme, so its basic requirements align with those of other skilled migration pathways. However, unlike other skilled migration pathways:as long as you have 65 points, MINT will grant you a Subclass 190 permanent visa. For other skilled migration pathways, aside from the few occupations mentioned above that receive invitations readily, lower-scoring applicants in most other occupations will generally only receive Subclass 491 invitations or no invitation at all. Furthermore, in addition to the ease of receiving an invitation, fully offshore MINT applicants can apply from overseas, have their visa granted while still offshore, and face no strict restrictions on when they subsequently enter and reside in Australia. The entire application process takes approximately 18 months, with a high certainty of visa approval — making it an excellent option for applicants!
Those who broadly meet the requirements are welcome to contact us for a detailed assessment!
Now let’s look at the additional requirements for MINT applications.~
· Applying —MINTwhatfinancialrequirements?
Although MINT is a skilled migration programme, it differs from standard skilled migration in one more way. The Northern Territory MINT has additional financial requirements. Let’s break these down.~
The Northern Territory MINT requires an investment of AUD 515,000.Naturally, this amount is not unrecoverable. It can be split into two parts: the first part, that is, 80%, approximately AUD 400,000, goes towards purchasing Northern Territory government bonds, returned in full with interest after five years. The second part, that is, the remaining 20%, approximately AUD 100,000, is invested into a government-backed startup fund.
Compared with other skilled migration programmes, the financial commitment required for MINT is higher. MINT is therefore better suited to those who have a budget set aside for migration!
Now that we understand the basic and additional requirements, you’re probably wondering about the timeline for actually getting your permanent visa — after all, many people want to settle into life in Australia as soon as possible, or get their children into the Australian education system early.~
· Applying for MINT — How Long Does It Take to Get Permanent Residency?
Compared to the Subclass 188/888 investor migration pathway (5–7 years to PR) and the Subclass 491 to Subclass 191 skilled migration pathway (5–7 years to PR),MINT — Subclass 190 is a one-step, fast-track permanent residency programme — you can obtain PR in approximately 1.5–2 years (including for the applicant’s spouse and children). So MINT is a classic case of achieving big results for a relatively modest investment, and it is an excellent fast-track migration option for families with children!
During the National Day holiday period weformally received invitations for 2 MINT applicantswhose EOI scores were both65 points.
The following are successful invitation case studies!
Over the past few days, a number of clients have alsoreceived Subclass 190 permanent visas
The MINT programme has 30 places for this financial year (July 2022 – June 2023). Places are still available, but numbers are limited — so if you meet the requirements and have the necessary budget, message us now for a detailed migration plan!
