Limited-time opportunity! This migration pathway is currently at its best application window — N recent invitation success stories! Requirements are about to climb higher!

In December 2020, Australia’s business and investor migration programme announced that the application thresholds would rise in the new financial year from 1 July 2021 — we previously provided a detailed breakdown of the policy announced at the time:

Major policy shake-up! Large-scale investor migration reforms are imminent — 188A requirements to rise, 132 to be scrapped! Seize the final six-month golden window!

With change on the horizon for Australia’s business and investor migration programme, we believe now isthe best time to apply, for three reasons:

Business and investor migration quotas are at their highest in nearly five years — processing may ease!

The 2020-2021 financial year isthe financial year with the highest business and investor migration quota in nearly five years, almost double the 2019-2020 financial year’s quota, and the increase in quota numbers meansthe Australian government urgently needs foreign capital to help the post-pandemic economy recover, so processing is likely to be somewhat more relaxed accordingly.

Catch the last train under the old policy’s lower thresholds!

From the 2021-2022 financial year (starting 1 July 2021), Australia’s business and investor migration programme is set to change, and after the change, applicants will face stricter hard requirements such as higher eligibility criteria and increased investment amounts, meaning applicants who currently meet the requirements mayno longer meet the new application requirements after 1 July 2021,meaning more investment capital will be required, so the proportion of funds tied up in the migration process will be higher.

Mainstream Australian media outlet the “Financial Review” recently published an article on the rise in Australia’s investor visa thresholds titled “More money to get an investor visa”, which noted that the Subclass 188B visa’s investment amount is expected to rise from the current AU$1.5 million to AU$2.5 million, and the Subclass 188C visa’s investment amount is expected to rise from AU$5 million to AU$10 million, with the investment funds to be directed into Australian small and medium enterprises.

Priority processing, faster turnaround!

Australia’s Subclass 188 investor visa is currently classified as a priority-processing category, so compared with Canada’s and the United States’ investor migration processing times (a queue of five to seven years or more), Australia’s investor migration has the shortest processing time — and processing has now become even faster.Case officers’ capacity is limited, and with a surge in caseloads, processing needs to speed up — which naturally means document review becomes somewhat more relaxed, and approval rates rise.

made it onto the last train before the policy change!

Three188Aclients successfully obtained state nomination

NSW 188A:

Client 1: Mr D has long operated a trading company with an annual turnover in the tens of millions, but the difficulty was that when Mr D applied for an Australian visa in 2018, he had declared a different company, and Mr D was set on NSW, where the application documentation and requirements are higher than in other states. After positioning the strategy and resolving each risk point one by one, we successfully helped the client secure an invitation.

QLD 188A:

Client 2: Mr G is deputy general manager of a labour services company, highly educated, but his turnover only met the basic requirement of AU$500,000, and he faced the challenge of needing a strategy to meet the EOI points score.Had Mr G applied again in the new financial year, meeting the 65-point EOI score would have been difficult — seizing the best possible timing has always been the key to Mr G’s success.

Client 3: Ms M is a 188A client who signed with us early on and whom we guided all the way through. She works in the advertising industry, and over the two financial years of building her business track record, she actively followed our guidance and successfully obtained QLD state nomination. Australia’s business and investor migration visa is a long-term, stable visa, with no major changes since 2012 — it was precisely this stability that led Ms M to start preparing her application for this programme from the outset. After the policy changes from July 2021, there is unlikely to be another major overhaul for a long time — so applicants who want to migrate to Australia can start preparing now.

Two188Bclients successfully obtained state nomination

Client 1: Mr Y is a professional share-trading client whose investment base has been around RMB30 million in recent years, yet his starting investment amount was very low, only a few hundred thousand RMB — such a successful investment client is exactly the profile favoured by 188B visa case officers.Currently, the later-stage 188B investment still only requires AU$1.5 million to purchase state government bonds (risk rating: AAA bonds), which is effectively capital-guaranteed with interest earned on top. After 1 July 2021, the investment amount may increase, and funds may need to be invested in Australian small and medium enterprises, with no capital guarantee.

Client 2: Ms X has her own job and is a part-time investor. Holding to the investment philosophy of “not putting all your eggs in one basket”, Ms X spread her funds across A-shares, Hong Kong shares, US shares, the New Third Board, wealth management products, deposits, and other channels.Since the client held a wide range of investment products, this was where our copywriting team was truly put to the test — assessing eligibility for the 188 conditions was a real challenge. Over the years, Newstars Beijing has handled numerous 188B client cases and built up extensive experience.

We’d also like to remind all applicants that property investment clients can also apply for 188B, but this requiresat least three properties in addition to the primary residencefor the success rate to be higher.

One188Cclient successfully obtained NSW state nomination!

Mr D is a shareholder in a company. After selling his shares in the company, he received AU$5 million, with the company having paid tax, and — while the risk-investment requirement currently stands at AU$500,000 — he moved quickly to get in on this final wave of applications.

132ClientPR visa application reaches the final stage of processing

Mr H, who holds a 40% stake in a domestic clothing company, went through a request-for-further-information process that was nothing short of walking on eggshells, with the request letter already citing a Section 4020 (false or misleading information) warning, but after ourcopywriting team laid out a clear timeline and logical framework and provided a reasonable explanation, the request for further information was cleared perfectly, and the health examination and police clearance requests were successfully satisfied. The next step is to submit the English training fee — once the fee is paid, the 132 permanent residency visa grant letter will follow.

The Subclass 132 visa is set to become history after 1 July 2021 — it is currently the only visa within Australia’s business and investor migration programme that grants permanent residency in a single step. At present —

Queenslandalready closed on 24 February

South Australia132 will close on 29 March (the 132 ITA must be submitted before 29 March, the state nomination application must be submitted before 16 April, and ITAs for the 188 series (excluding 188D) can be submitted through to 21 May).

Victoriahas announced it will close after 5pm on 31 March

NSWhas also announced it remains open until 16 April

Applicants who want to secure Australian permanent residency in a single step should seize this final opportunity and get in touch with us as soon as possible.
