For those with several years of relevant work experience /   the Subclass 186 visa is also recommended!

In addition to MINT, the popularity of IT occupations is also demonstrated by the fact that they are among the most common occupations for the Subclass 186 Employer Nomination Scheme. Compared with MINT,the Subclass 186 pathway offers greater certainty in terms of employment.

The key to employer sponsorship lies in finding a suitable employer — one who genuinely needs to hire a non-local applicant. This means that, while some occupations appear on the employer sponsorship list,the challenge lies in:

1. There are relatively few companies in Australia operating in certain industries;

2. The justification for hiring a non-local applicant may not be strong, making it difficult to match with an employer.

For this reason, applicants generallyneed to have a solid track record in their nominated occupation— and the advantage of IT roles is thatthey exist across companies in virtually every industry, and IT skills and experience are broadly recognised worldwide. This means that, drawing on applicants’ advanced IT experience from their home country, IT occupations are among the easiest for which to find a suitable employer. Occupations for which Newstars has successfully handled employer sponsorship include:

Software Engineer, Systems Analyst, ICT Security Specialist, Developer Programmer, and more.
