The Australian Government has announced updated entry requirements. Travellers from mainland China (including Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR) must present a negative COVID-19 test result taken within 48 hours before departure.COVID-19The certificate may be in Chinese — no translation required. Make sure you have your proof ready before boarding to avoid any travel disruptions.~

The University of Tasmania’s Semester 1 2023 Tax Clinic is now recruiting! Application deadline: 15 January 2023 — apply soon!

As in previous years, the programme offers both internship and volunteer positions. Students who have studied Australian Taxation Law in the past five years are eligible to apply — including those who have just enrolled in a tax law unit this semester!

Eligibility requirements:

Internship positions: Open to current UTAS Business School students in their penultimate or final semester who have completed or are currently enrolled in an Australian Taxation Law unit within the past five years.

Volunteer positions: Open to anyone who has completed or is currently enrolled in an Australian Taxation Law unit within the past five years — including units studied at UTAS or through a CPA programme.

Benefits:

✔︎ Gain hands-on tax experience to boost your career development;

✔︎ Available at both the Hobart and Launceston campuses;

✔︎ This internship counts as credit — equivalent to one elective unit;

Professor Anita Ho-Baillie has joined forces with Sydney-based renewable technology company SunDrive to commercialise perovskite–silicon solar cells — a more advanced solar technology than any currently available on the market.

The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has provided AUD 2.78 million in research funding to Professor Ho-Baillie, who holds the John Hooke Chair of Nanoscience at the University of Sydney’s School of Physics and Sydney Nano. Other researchers on the project include Professor David McKenzie, Dr Zheng Jianghui, and Dr Arafat Mahmud from the University of Sydney, as well as Mr Vince Allen, Mr David Hu, and Professor Alison Lennon from SunDrive.

This funding forms part of a national investment of several million dollars aimed at accelerating research and development towards commercialisation.

The first round of ARENA’s Transformative Research Accelerating Commercialisation programme ran from February to August, allocating a total of AUD 40 million to support ultra-low-cost solar photovoltaic (PV) research and development.

With Australian Government financial support, the research project led by Professor Ho-Baillie, in collaboration with SunDrive, will improve the commercial viability of perovskite–silicon tandem solar cells — a major step forward for clean energy that will benefit communities globally.

Monash University is hosting an information session on the Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Education — a programme that has attracted strong interest from international students as a migration pathway.The event will be held online on 15 February 2023, 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm. It’s completely free to attend and open to participants anywhere in the world.

The webinar will cover everything you need to know about the programme, including online delivery, entry requirements, course structure, placement arrangements, and scholarship opportunities.

This webinar is especially valuable for students considering this programme as a migration pathway. Remember to register in advance.
