On 30 November 2022, one of ouroverseas-basedAustralian study graduatessuccessfully receiveda Northern Territory MINT programmeinvitation — just one step away from securing190their Subclass 190!

We have already introduced many cases of overseas applicants receiving MINT invitations. But this client is a little special! Why is that?

Because this is alsothe world’s first
MINT Start-Up Graduate Programme stream
invitee!

From July this year, Australian study graduates can now apply for MINT too!

Previously, MINT was not open to applicants inside Australia — it was only available to purely overseas applicants. From July this year,MINT introduced two major favourable policy changes: first, there is no separate occupation list — anyone with an Australian migration occupation can apply; and second, the new Australian Graduate Start-Up Programme (Start-Up Graduate Program) was introduced.Eligible applicants includeAustralian study graduates holding a Subclass 485 visa who are currently in Australia,as well asformer Australian study graduates who held an Australian student visa within the past five years but have been living overseas for at least two years.

As a result, the first applicants through this stream were true pioneers. Newstars quickly organised several groups of Subclass 485 holders to attempt this in August, and all have now secured their places and are in the start-up phase. Today’s subject isthe world’s first overseas client who held an Australian student visa within the past five years but had returned home and been living overseas for two years to successfully receive an invitation! Her success provides a reference for other applicants!

We worked closely with this client to tailor a business plan suited to her circumstances, and provided interview training and coaching, successfully winning the favour of the state government and the fund company, receiving an invitation in just 3 months!

If you were anAustralian study graduate,
if you completed your studieswithin the past five years,
if you returned home to develop your career after graduating,or if you were stranded overseas soon after graduating
due to the pandemic, this is absolutely a dedicated permanent residency pathway designed specifically for you!

MINT Start-Up Applicant Stream

— who is it for?

First, let’s look at whether you qualify for the MINT Start-Up Graduate Programme stream. Graduates who studied in Australia and wish to apply for MINT should first understand which stream they can take.

The MINT Start-Up Applicant Stream (MINT Start-Up Graduate Program) is divided into two categories:

– Overseas start-up applicant: refers to those who studied in Australia and have since returned home, have been outside Australia for at least two years prior to applying, and whose Subclass 485 or student visa has been expired for at least two years;
– Onshore start-up applicant: refers to Australian study graduates who, at the time of application, hold a Subclass 485 visa or a Subclass 485
bridging visa A (BVA). If holding a Subclass 485 visa, it must have a remaining validity of no less than 13 months.
If you have no previous Australian study background and are a purely overseas applicant, you are also welcome to contact us to enquire about the MINT pure overseas applicant stream!
