Update! Some state nominations reopening for resubmission? Some still under review? A roundup of every state nomination website update for the 2023–24 financial year!

It has been a week since the start of the 2023–24 financial year, and the federal government still has not finalised the state nomination allocations(the wait goes on)

The states that have not yet received their state nomination allocations can essentially do nothing for now. They do know everyone is anxious, though, and many have updated their official websites to explain the current situation



New South Wales


The Subclass 190 and Subclass 491 Pathway 2 pages are unchanged
491Pathway1:Applications are closed; the 2023–24 policy will be announced soon



ACT (Canberra)

– The new financial year’s state nomination allocation has not yet been received; it will be published on the official website once obtained
– The next round of Matrix invitations will be issued on 14 July or earlier. That said, based on the state government’s repeated past precedent, Matrix invitations are often not issued on the date listed above



Victoria


Update of Friday 7 July 2023:The opening dates for both skilled migration and investor migration in 2023–24 are to be confirmed.
Submissions of the ROI were temporarily closed on 8 May 2023, and it is still unknown whether ROIs already in the pool will need to be resubmitted for the new financial year.




Queensland


The final number of places issued in 2022–23 was 4,300, meaning 700 places were wasted
– Still waiting on the federal government to release the 2023–24 allocation; only once the allocation is received will the state update its policy and confirm the new financial year’s opening dates
– Before 5pm on 30 June (AEST), applicants who received a pre-invitation, paid, and lodged their documents but have not yet received a formal nomination will continue to be processed, but the nomination can only be issued once new allocations are available
All other applications are temporarily closed; a new EOI will need to be lodged once the new financial year begins



Tasmania


The Gateway application channel opened last Thursday, and as of today, 10 July, ROIs have already been invited



Northern Territory

– The 2,000 places for 2022–23 (600 for Subclass 190 and 1,400 for Subclass 491) have all been used up
– The new financial year’s federally allocated places have not yet been received
Applicants who have already received a pre-invitation may proceed to lodge their formal nomination application, and the state government will continue to assess the documents, but the nomination can only be issued once new allocations are available





South Australia

– The new financial year’s federally allocated places have not yet been received
– Applications will only open once the allocation is received; the policy and lists are expected to be largely unchanged from 2022–23



Western Australia


No updates at this stage


Every state is stuck because it has not received its federal allocation.
