NSW to release a new occupation list! Victoria responds on this year’s state nomination! WA still pushing for more places!

Last Friday, every state except Victoria and Western Australia responded to the allocation figures released on Thursday — most along the lines of “noted, under review”. Only the Northern Territory took a more drastic line, quickly suspending new applications.

On Monday 28 August, Victoria also responded, Western Australia kept up its media push over the weekend in a continued bid for more places, and there is fresh news out of New South Wales as well.

Victoria

It has received 3,300 places in total — 2,700 for the Subclass 190 and 600 for the Subclass 491. Further details on invitations and the timeline for the 2023–24 financial year will be published on the official website as they become available.

New South Wales

A new occupation list is about to be released and is now in its final stages.

As planned, New South Wales will issue its first round of pre-invitations in late September.

Western Australia

Western Australia urgently needs talent to drive its economic growth and is calling for more state-nomination places to support it. In other words, Western Australia is still pressing the Commonwealth for a larger allocation
