Complete Roundup: Victoria Invitation Bonanza! Finance, Marketing, Design, IT, Accounting & Engineering All Invited — Most with Base Scores of 80–85!

Victoria issued another round of invitations on 19 October. Just one week since the last round. Interestingly, the state government even announced in the morning that invitations would be issued — something that never happened in the previous financial year. It seems there really is no application backlog.
What makes this round even more interesting
Below are our clients who received invitations
Below is our compiled data from internal and external sources
1. The “Big Three” occupations were invited just a week ago and were not included this time

2. This round included accounting, IT/computing, engineering, marketing, design, and finance, with a number of non-priority occupations appearing

3. Apart from accounting, the scores for other occupations were not particularly high — base scores of 85/80 were the norm. After all, this is competitive Victoria — these scores are quite acceptable

4. Victoria’s first round went heavily to offshore applicants, the second round mostly to onshore “Big Three” applicants, and this third round spread the invitations across the board

5. This round saw more applicants with a skilled partner (full 10 bonus points) receiving invitations, but there were also reports of single applicants being invited — it was not as absolute as it may seem
To summarise: this round of invitations was remarkably similar to the previous financial year. The number of invitations issued did not appear to be small, and it certainly did not feel like candidates were being carefully hand-picked under a very limited quota.
Furthermore, the pattern of issuing one round for the Big Three and then one for general occupations mirrors what happened last year after the fast-track channel was introduced.

As for the reasons behind this, we would love to understand them as well.

Our speculation is that, firstly, Victoria announced early that its 190/491 programme for this financial year would wrap up early in the new year. They clearly do not want to take the drip-feed approach of issuing a small number each round to stretch things out to the end of the financial year. If that is the case, then let the invitations flow!

Another more speculative theory: Western Australia also seemed to hark back to the 2022–23 financial year last week — could they have received additional quota allocations? This far-fetched speculation is also a great big wish.
Because what we want most is for more people to successfully secure their visas, without agonising each round over whether onshore or offshore applicants got more, whether it was the Big Three or general occupations, or whether it was those with a 10-point partner bonus or single applicants.

Congratulations to everyone who received a pleasant surprise this round! As we mentioned yesterday, this year’s quota is smaller but the state government is not playing by the book. There may well be surprises in the first half of the financial year, so regardless of the circumstances, we recommend lodging your expression of interest as soon as possible! If you would like to lodge an application or learn more about Victoria’s state nomination, feel free to contact our team below
