Someone shared their Subclass 491-to-191 visa grant on Facebook today

The name on the poster’s account matches the name on the grant letter, and the image confirms it really is a Subclass 491-to-191 case (not the HK stream).This appears to be the first 491-to-191 grant ever shared online.

As for authenticity, by the time this article went out the post had already received several hundred comments, although the poster had not yet replied to any of them, including questions about when this 191 was lodged. The poster later replied: lodged the 191 in March 2023, supplied additional documents in May.

Since the first batch of 491 holders became eligible to move to 191 last November, more than half a year has now passed. During that time the key requirement of a nil income threshold was confirmed, and a conservative estimate puts the number of 191 applications already lodged at a few hundred, with everyone online eagerly awaiting the start of grants,all hoping it won’t turn into another Subclass 887(though the 887 was processed normally and quickly for most of its history; it’s just that, for reasons unknown at the time, processing suddenly stalled in September 2020).

We are inclined to believe this is a genuine grant, and we look forward to seeing more grants come through as further confirmation.

The unchanging trend is that the Subclass 491 — thanks to low-points invitations and the nil-income path to PR —will only grow more popular.And as the number of grants and applications keeps climbing, the 491 is becoming, if it is not already, the mainstream pathway for skilled migration!
