1. employer sponsorships for high salaries will be further promoted! The initial threshold is 120,000?

This week continues the progress of major migration reform. There is new news about the employer-guaranteed high-salary fast track. The Department of Home Affairs informed relevant stakeholders that the high-salary threshold is initially set at 120,000 AUD, and may be as high as 150,000 AUD.this channelIt is not restricted by the occupation list, so you can apply for any occupation, and no labor market test is required. The trial can be completed within a few weeks.
It is expected that this channel is suitable forRecruit talents or senior executives from large international companies to Australia,orHelp Australian companies attract international talent.
The threshold for high salary is still under discussion.Employer representatives hope that the threshold will be lower, as low as 98,000 AUD, but Union representatives do not want so many people to participate and suggest setting the threshold at 200,000 AUD.
The Department of Home Affairs is still struggling with the final income threshold and other details, and there should be more news in the future. The Labor government believes that it is now too difficult for high-skilled employees to enter Australia, while it is too easy for low-skilled workers to enter Australia. So the finalThe migration review will be released alongside a review of the integrity of the international education system.

2. With 53% of the ACT quota left, invitations are still being issued to a large number of professions in the September round?
This week’s state migration news mainly comes from Canberra. On Tuesday, our Canberra director and registered migration agent Victor LIN participated in MIA’s ACT Chapter breakfast event, during which the A/g Director of ACT Migration – Donny provided the latest data and plans about ACT migration.
The following is the situation as of September 19th——
-The remaining quotas: 288 190 quotas, the proportion is 48%; the remaining 348 491 quotas, the proportion is 58%. Therefore, the remaining quota for the entire ACT nomination Scheme is 53%
-Already used:312 190 and 252 491 quotas
-Acceptance rate and pass rate: The nomination acceptance rate for Canberra domestic applicants is 60-70%.The pass rate of domestic 190 is about 85%; the acceptance rate of overseas applicants is less than 50%, and the pass rate of overseas 190 is about 75%

Next plan——
-NextWe will continue to send out one round of Matrix invitations every January., the state government expects the minimum invitationsMatrix scores to continue to rise
-The state government will not adjust policies and lists before January 1st.It may be adjusted after January 1st, but it’s not certain yet. If it is adjusted, it is more likely to reduce the number of occupations that can be applied for.
The state government has no plans to close overseas channels for the time being, but in the future, it will basically only invite unpopular occupations overseas that no one in the country applies for.
The small business channel will continue to invite invitations, but the amount in each round will be smaller.

Suggestions from on-site intermediaries:
It seems that the state government is still preparing to “spread the rain and dew” when the quota is no longer enough, which will result in applicants from various groups in each notice not having many opportunities. Therefore, someone at the scene suggested:
Overseas channels can be temporarily closed, leaving more opportunities for graduates in the state
-Some people think that among the applicants in the state,Small business channels should get more opportunities, because of financial support and other reasons

This week, Canberra also announcedMatrix invitation data for September 15th round, this is the first round after learning that the quota has been significantly reduced, but the invitation model is still very similar to the previous one. The state government stated at the meeting that this round is a “test of the waters” and is still trying to balance the interests and needs of all parties.
Overseas applicants:
43 190 invitations and 130 491 invitations were sent
General domestic applicants:
50 190 invitations and 54 491 invitations were sent
Domestic small business channel:
Sent four 190 invitations, with a minimum invitations points of 100 points
Sent 2 491 invitations, with a minimum invitations points of 75 points

The three major categories of accounting and computer engineering basically require 100 points or above.
Some popular and common occupations also cost over 100
There are generally 190 channels in the country, and most invitations points 80 points.
There are generally 491 channels in the country, and most invitations have a points of 65 points.
Overseas 491 channels, most of them fall between 65-85 points
Overseas 190 channels, most of them fall between 80-100 points

Some analysis:
Because it was invited again after 2 months, there is still a backlog of applications in the pool. But the invitation points is still lower than expected.Of course, these invitations may not necessarily be converted into genuine nomination invitations. It also depends on the acceptance rate, especially for overseas applicants. It is expected that the state government’s distribution may be more targeted and directional in the future.

For more detailed information please see:ACT’s latest! The remaining 53% of the quota may be adjusted, and the occupation list may be temporarily retained overseas. We will consider increasing the distribution of small business channels!

3. VET suspends new job assessment applications for popular skilled occupations; working holiday visas also need to be reformed
This week VET has another update,Affecting skilled occupations, starting from September 25, due to the huge number of applications, VETno longerApplications for new job evaluations are accepted for seven occupations: chefs, chefs, diesel auto mechanics, general auto mechanics, fitters, electricians and metal mechanics.Submissions before the deadline will still be processed.

Skilled occupations generally use TRA’s Skills assessment, and there are no changes to TRA.The Skills assessment used to apply for 485 can still be done.VET is generally just an alternative, so you don’t need to worry too much.

Let me share two more news related to working holiday visa:
1. The government is considering reforming the working holiday visa, perhaps so that renewal of the visa does not require any work requirements.
This is also an issue raised in the mid-term migration reform report. The report believes that the current work requirements have led to serious exploitation of visa holders, and recommends canceling the option to renew the visa, which is only valid for one year. But employers represented by agriculture say they have relied heavily on working holiday visas to fill staff shortages, and the inability to renew them has affected their daily operations. Therefore, the Department of Home Affairs revealed that it may adopt a compromise approach, which can renew the visa but cancel the work-related requirements.

2. This week the Working Holiday visa has officially stopped submitting new applications. We just said last week that submissions could still be made at that time, but we also warned that Recent may be closed, so everyone should hurry up. It was closed this week just after the announcement. The working holiday visa lottery has not yet been held for this financial year. Successfully submitted EOIs will be in the pool and should be held recently. Please pay attention to your email.

4. Overseas immigrants are returning strongly to Australia, contributing to 81% of population growth
Recently, the Australian Bureau of Statistics released population data for the 12 months ending in March this year. The rapid return of overseas immigrants has helped Australia’s population grow steadily. Note here that overseas immigrants not only have PR, but also temporary visa holders who can live in Australia for 12 months or more. The larger proportion actually comes from temporary visa holders such as 500/whv/485.
681,000 immigrants entered Australia in 12 monthsIt is twice that of the same period in 2022. At the same time, another 226,600 people moved out of Australia, meaning the net inflow of overseas immigrants was 454,400.
The state with the largest total population growth was Victoria, an increase of 161,700 people
The largest total population range is in Western Australia. The proportion is 2.8%; the smallest is Tasmania, the proportion is 0.4%
– Overseas immigrants are still most concentrated in New South Wales and Victoria, with more than 150,000 in the former and nearly 140,000 in the latter, followed by Western Australia and Queensland.
For more detailed data please see:Australia has a net inflow of over 454,000 overseas immigrants, contributing 81% to population growth! New South Wales and Victoria both absorbed more than 100,000, and Queensland exceeded 70,000!

It can be said that as of the beginning of this year, the return of a large number of overseas immigrants was caused by the Australian government’s series of policy incentives after the epidemic was over. It even exceeded the government’s expectations, especially the large number of temporary visas. After the great opening, there is the great closing. It is not normal for the economy to be open and closed. We hope that things will return to normal in the next fiscal year and applicants will not need to ride the roller coaster.
