Employer-Sponsored Reform Enacted: All 482 Visa Holders Can Now Transition to PR — Only 2 Years of Work Required!

The legislation for the new 482 visa policy has now been formally released,The reforms differ little from what was officially announced earlier — everything is unfolding as promised.
Key changes taking effect from 25 November 2023Key changes
– All 457/482 holders transitioning to the Subclass 186 TRT stream now only need 2 years of work experience for permanent residency.
– The 482-to-186 TRT permanent-residency pathway no longer has an occupation-list restriction (every 482 holder has the chance to transition to PR).
– Some COVID-era concessions for the 186 transition will be discontinued.
Consistent with what was previously understood.

Unchanged items:
– The occupation, English and other requirements for applying for the 482 visa remain unchanged; the nominated occupation for a 482 application must still appear on the federal migration occupation list (except for the special Labour Agreement and DAMA streams).
– All Subclass 186 DE stream requirements remain unchanged
