Australia’s Diploma fast-track programmes

Considering that some students’ results don’t meet the entry requirements for direct entry into a bachelor’s degree,many Australian universities have designed Diploma fast-track programmes as a bridge.

For foundation programme graduates,a Diploma is equivalent to first-year of an Australian bachelor’s degree, and through specialised training,students’ abilities are quickly brought up to the same level as domestic Australian students. After successfully completing the programme and meeting the university’s relevant grade requirements,students go straight into second year of the bachelor’s degree, with the Diploma’s credits counting towards the total credits for the whole degree. First year!

This shortcut suits the majority of Chinese students particularly well, and is the fastest way to progress into a prestigious university’s bachelor’s degree. The final academic transcript and degree certificate are no different from those of a regular undergraduate!

What’s the difference between a Diploma and a regular first year?

1. Small-class teaching, giving every student more opportunities to interact directly with lecturers;

2. Additional tutorial-style support courses help international students adapt to English-medium assessment methods, such as essay writing, group collaboration and presentations;

3. When progressing from the first-year fast-track programme into second year, there are usuallyadditional requirements, though these are generally not high

Things to note when transferring from a foundation programme

Requirements for applying to transfer schools after completing a foundation programme:

If you want to change schools, and you’ve been in your main course (bachelor’s degree) for less than 6 months, you’ll need to obtain an offer from the new school, then apply to your original school for a transfer consent letter (Release Letter). If the original school approves, you can take the Release Letter to the new school, pay the tuition fees as required by the offer, and obtain a formal CoE, completing the transfer process.

To gain approval from the original school, you’ll need to provide a detailed statement of your reasons for transferring, which largely determines whether approval is granted. Having analysed each student’s individual situation and background, we’ve already helped many foundation programme students successfully obtain a transfer consent letter from their original school — students who need help can contact us for a case-by-case assessment.

‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍If you’ve already been studying your main course (bachelor’s degree) for more than 6 months, no transfer consent letter from the original school is required.
