A Hidden Gem State Nomination Pathway for International Graduates — Accountants Invited with 80 Points, No Work Experience Required, High Quotas and Less Competition

From the start of the previous financial year, Western Australia has been actively supporting international study, backing locally graduated international students’ migration through concrete state nomination policies. Recently, the Western Australian Government updated the 2022–2023 financial year Subclass 190/491 state nomination policies — a significant relaxation compared to the previous year, with substantially eased requirements

In the new financial year, Western Australia offers

at least 5,350 Subclass 190 and 2,790 Subclass 491 allocations

the Graduate Stream occupation list has been significantly expanded

the job offer or work experience requirement for the Graduate Stream has been removed

English language requirements have been lowered

In other words, graduates

need only a skills assessment + IELTS 6 in each band

to apply!

Key Policy Updates

– The Graduate Occupation List has been expanded, offering over 300 occupations. Popular occupations such as accounting and civil engineering remain on the list; new additions include auditing, landscape architecture, and engineering technician roles.

– Locally graduated students applying via the Graduate Stream no longer need work experience or a job offer for Subclass 190/491

– Western Australia’s pre-invitation priority order is:applicants residing in Western Australia (local graduates automatically qualify), applicants residing elsewhere in Australia, then overseas applicants. Consistent with the previous financial year, in the first pre-invitation round of this financial year, Graduate Stream scores are generally well below those of the General Stream

Western Australia Graduate Stream Requirements

Western Australia’s state nomination is divided into two streams:

General Stream

Graduate Stream (local graduates)

Today we focus on the Graduate Stream.

Graduate Stream application requirements:

–– Your nominated occupation must appear on the WA Graduate Occupation List (GOL)

The list currently includes 331 occupations, covering most common and in-demand fields

–– English at IELTS 6 in each band (or equivalent)

Complete at least two years of Certificate III or above study in Western Australia, at a TEQSA (higher education), ASQA (VET) or CRICOS-registered institution with a campus in Western Australia.

– Graduate Stream priority order:

Within Western Australia ≫ elsewhere in Australia ≫ outside Australia;

higher qualifications,higher priority;

higher EOI score,higher priority;

earlier EOI submission,higher priority.
