As a result, the first applicants through this stream were true pioneers. Newstars quickly organised several groups of Subclass 485 holders to attempt this in August, and all have now secured their places and are in the start-up phase. MINT Start-Up Applicant Stream

— who is it for?

First, let’s look at whether you qualify for the MINT Start-Up Graduate Programme stream. Graduates who studied in Australia and wish to apply for MINT should first understand which stream they can take.

The MINT Start-Up Applicant Stream (MINT Start-Up Graduate Program) is divided into two categories:

– Overseas start-up applicant: refers to those who studied in Australia and have since returned home, have been outside Australia for at least two years prior to applying, and whose Subclass 485 or student visa has been expired for at least two years;
– Onshore start-up applicant: refers to Australian study graduates who, at the time of application, hold a Subclass 485 visa or a Subclass 485
bridging visa A (BVA). If holding a Subclass 485 visa, it must have a remaining validity of no less than 13 months.

what are the requirements?

Graduates who

studied in Australia and have since returned home and wish to migrate through the MINT programme must meet the following requirements:— Previously studied in Australia and have since returned home,

with long-term residence outside Australia for at least two years prior to applying;— Must meet the minimum requirements for skilled migration: EOI points score of 50 for Subclass 491; 60 points for Subclass 190;
— Investment funds must be demonstrably from a legitimate source: parental gifts are acceptable, but the source of the parents’ funds must also be explained;
— The nominated occupation must appear on any of the Department of Home Affairs’ MLTSSL/STSOL/ROL lists (occupations on the ROL can only apply for Subclass 491)
— Must pass the MINT Fund panel interview with three expert panellists and the NT state government migration officer.
Prior to the interview, applicants must prepare a Business Plan and a presentation (PPT), and face an interview with the MINT three-person expert panel and NT state government migration officer. 1. Pay the start-up plan fee (review and coaching) of AUD $14,000 + 10% GST, totalling AUD $15,400.

2. Apply for a Subclass 600 Business visa and prepare the business plan and interview presentation.
3. Enter Australia on the Subclass 600 visa.
4. Attend the MINT Fund three-person expert panel and NT state government migration officer interview.
5. After passing the interview, pay: three-year office lease fees of AUD $12,000/year + 10% GST, and an administration fee of AUD $5,000 + 10% GST, totalling AUD $45,100.
6. Sign the Start-Up NT Program Agreement (placeholder agreement) and pay the AUD $33,000 placeholder fee;
7. Receive your placeholder number and lodge the state nomination application.
8. After receiving the state government pre-approval letter, complete the AUD $515,000
investment.9. Cooperate with the fund company for source-of-funds and anti-money-laundering checks.
10. NT state government approval is granted, and the EOI is invited simultaneously.
11. Within 60 days of receiving the EOI invitation, lodge the visa application with the Department of Home Affairs.
