Following announcements from the other Go8 universities, ANU has also published its 2023 Semester 1 and Semester 2 teaching arrangements via its campus news. After three years of pandemic disruptions, students can finally say goodbye to online classes.
ANU’s 2023 teaching schedule is as follows:
2023 Semester 1: According to the On Campus bulletin, students who are still unable to return to Australia in time for in-person classes may still choose online options — however, some courses are offered in-person only. Please choose your courses carefully at enrolment.
2023 Semester 2: All online teaching will cease in Semester 2. Under Australian Government requirements, holders of a student visa must return to campus and complete at least two-thirds of their coursework in person.
Students with exceptional circumstances who are unable to return will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
If you are unable to travel to Australia for in-person study in 2023, please contact your institution as soon as possible to discuss your options.
Additionally, students wishing to apply for ANU accommodation should note that the application deadline for Semester 1 2023 is 15 January 2023.

Flinders University is launching a game-changing new programme in 2023 — listen up, everyone!Graduating with a doctorate from a regional area is a major migration advantage, and a PhD title can open doors in your career.
Flinders University will launch a new PhD-MBA programme in 2023, helping students who want to build their career opportunities turn their ambitions into reality!
According to a survey by the Graduate Management Admission Council, 91% of global recruiters planned to prioritise MBA graduates in 2021, and postgraduate business graduates earned 77% more than bachelor’s degree holders.

Many students have recently encountered the term USI for the first time. The USI (Unique Student Identifier) is essentially a unique identification number for students studying in Australia. Some students previously faced the situation of being unable to graduate without a USI. The USI office has now published updated guidance.
All international students studying in Australia are required to obtain a USI — including those studying at VET providers and universities!
Some students may apply for a USI exemption, but be aware that an exemption means you will not be able to access certain Australian Government assistance or receive an officially certified USI VET transcript.
The specific conditions are as follows:
– If a student completes all or part of their course while physically in Australia, they must have a USI unless they have been granted an exemption.
– If a student has never been to Australia and completes all their Australian college coursework offshore, they do not need a USI.
– If a student completes all their coursework before 1 January 2023, they do not need to register for a USI.
A reminder to students approaching graduation: stay closely updated on USI requirements and check with your institution to confirm whether you need a USI in order to receive your qualification.
The USI registration process is straightforward. We strongly recommend everyone register via the USI official website under “Get a USI” to avoid any unnecessary complications.

The 2022 ARTU Top University Rankings aggregate three major global ranking systems:the QS World University Rankings, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, and the ARWU (Academic Ranking of World Universities). Universities are ranked by their combined score across all three lists!
The rankings were created by UNSW and have now been published for four consecutive years. UNSW Vice-Chancellor Ian Jacobs noted that, given the variety of ranking systems and their differing methodologies, ARTU provides a consolidated view that broadens the evaluation framework.
In the 2022 ARTU rankings, the top three remain the perennial frontrunners: Harvard University, Stanford University, and the University of Cambridge.
The top ten Australian universities in the 2022 ARTU rankings are:
University of Melbourne — 27th
University of Queensland — 42nd
University of Sydney — 46th
Australian National University — 49th
Monash University — 50th
University of New South Wales — 53rd
University of Western Australia — 85th
University of Adelaide — 90th
University of Technology Sydney — 145th
Macquarie University — 170th

IMC/Top has added a new Perth campus, offering a Master of Business Administration (Professional Accounting) programme. This is another great piece of news for skilled migration — a regional area location combined with a CPA-accredited programme is a winning combination!
This is a CPA-accredited programme. If you are pursuing an Accounting pathway to PR but struggling to accumulate enough points, this could be the solution!Applications are not limited to bachelor’s degree graduates — this postgraduate programme also accepts students via a diploma-to-master’s pathway. The school also offers an internal English assessment, so you won’t need to wait for a PTE or IELTS test slot.

Attention to students enrolling in or currently attending the University of Sydney’s language programme (CET) — online study arrangements have been updated for 2023!
CET will continue to offer online programmes until 30 June 2023. Under TEQSA requirements, from 30 June 2023 all international students holding a student visa must return to campus for in-person study. This means: if you begin a CET online course in May 2023, you must return to campus by 1 July 2023. In that case, the university recommends travelling to Australia for in-person study from May 2023 itself.
Departmental holiday schedule:
CET: Closed from 12:30 pm AEST on 16 December 2022; reopens 3 January 2023.
University of Sydney: Closed from 12:30 pm AEST on 22 December 2022; reopens 9 January 2023.
ICT Support and Services: Closed from 12:30 pm AEST on 22 December 2022; reopens 9 January 2023.
From 2023 Semester 1,most University of Sydney courses will require students to return to campus for in-person teaching. Until 3 February 2023, the CET Direct Entry Course (DEC) and Graduate Academic Skills (GAS) course may continue online.
