At last, WA (Western Australia)has issued its first pre-invitation round of 2023.

WA has attracted a great deal of attention this financial year for several reasons: it holds the third-largest allocation, behind only New South Wales and Victoria; it has lowered its application threshold so significantly that even non-local graduates living interstate are keen to try; and with the financial year already at the halfway point, WA’s actual quota usage remains very low — meaning there are plenty of opportunities still available in the second half.

This round differs from previous rounds in several ways:

–Only Subclass 190pre-invitations were issued

– The vast majority of pre-invitations wereconcentrated in General Stream Schedule 2 (which covers most migration occupations, and interstate graduates may apply), with the 2,000 invitations, of which1,500

– This rounddid not invite the most popular occupation of general accountant(we have contacted the state government for clarification),but includedmanagement accountant andtaxation accountant

–Taxation Accountant, Management Accountant, and multiple popular IT and engineering occupations all secured Subclass 190 invitations at a base score of just 70 — a further reduction in the points threshold
