The migration outlook, both onshore and offshore, remains very strong, with plenty of clients receiving invitations in March — and we’d like to start by congratulating everyone who got across the line in March!

NSW 190 also issued its first round of March invitations yesterday, with many offshore applicants invited, including Marketing Specialists invited at 70/75 points, Finance/Investment Advisers and Managers at 75+5 points, and Program/Project Administrators at 75+5 points, and so on. There were plenty of onshore invitations too, such as Auditors at 85+5, Accountants at 95+5 points, Architects at 85+5 points, and Solicitors at 80+5 points.

Beyond NSW 190 and Victoria — the rounds everyone watches most closely — today we’ve pulled together the surprising dark-horse pathways for Australian skilled migration in March!

Queensland Priority Processing Pathway

Work Stream 190 requirements

First up is Queensland, whose state nomination had been quiet for a while. It opened its Work Stream priority processing pathway twice for a modest release, and issued a round of invitations in March as well.

Priority Processing Pathway — the requirements for Queensland’s Work Stream 190 pathway are:

1. An EOI score of 80 points or above (75 or above for trade occupations)

2. English of at least 7 in each of the four bands (4 sixes is sufficient for trade occupations)

3. The work requirement: you must have lived in Queensland for the past 6 months and worked full-time in your nominated occupation (at least 35 hours per week)

4. And you must provide evidence of ongoing work with a registered Queensland employer for a further 12 months (at least 35 hours per week)

5. Aged under 45

6. A valid skills assessment in your occupation

This March marks the second batch of clients invited through our Agency Priority Processing Queensland work pathway. The agency priority processing pathway is currently very fast from EOI lodgement to invitation — anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks!All of the cases below were invited within a month of lodging! We’re hoping Queensland keeps the surprises coming!

As at the end of February, Queensland had issued 1,187 state nominations, with a 190 usage rate of just 39.57%. There are still plenty of places remaining.

NSW 491 RDA Pathway

The second is the NSW RDA 491 pathway, whose advantages fall into three points:

Generous allocation ——

As at 28 February 2023, NSW had issued 1,346 491 nominations, with 4,822 remaining and a usage rate of just 21.82%.So it is certain to stay open on a large scale going forward.

Low requirements ——

NSW RDA 491 has two streams, Stream A and Stream B:

Stream A is open to any occupation but requires you to already hold work in your nominated occupation in regional NSW. If this applies to you, feel free to contact us directly for an assessment — we won’t go into detail here.

Let’s focus on the Stream B requirements:

–Your occupation is on the NSW 491 designated list and you hold a valid skills assessment, and you meet the basic requirements for Australian skilled migration (an EOI score of 65, IELTS 6 in each band, and aged under 45) — then you can apply.Stream B’s designated occupation list covers many common fields, such as Design, Finance, Marketing Specialists, Human Resource Advisers, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and University Lecturers, and many more.

–You can apply for the NSW 491 RDA Stream B pathway from either onshore or offshore; if onshore, you must have lived within NSW (including Sydney) for at least three months.

WA General Stream

As always

plenty of invitations, low requirements

WA’s General Stream Sch2 was on fire in March too, issuing 1,900 190 pre-invitations, most of which went to non-local graduates, and many occupations were invited at a low 60+5 in March!

The conditions for WA 190 General Stream 2 are not demanding either:

1. Your nominated occupation is on WASMOL Schedule 2

2. You hold a WA employment contract (closely related to your nominated occupation; full-time means at least 35 hours per week, and two jobs can be combined)

3. From the date you lodge your WA state nomination, the employment contract must have at least a 6-month term

Once you meet the conditions for WA 190 General Stream 2 and the basic requirements for Australian migration:

1. Aged under 45

2. A valid skills assessment

3. IELTS 6 in each band

4. An EOI score of 65 points

then you can lodge your WA 190 General Stream 2 state nomination! And as mentioned, invitation scores for most occupations currently sit at 65-70 points — lodge while you’re in WA, and you’ll generally be invited in the very next round!
