Last week brought some fresh news on skilled migration. As things stand, the outlook for skilled migration to Australia remains very positive. Today we’re reporting on the latest state-nomination situation, plus the skills assessment and migration pathways for some common occupations!

Latest on Queensland State Nomination

Queensland updated its state-nomination figures this week. Based on the current data, Queensland has released 2,500 state-nomination places, of which 50% have now been used. Within the allocation, Subclass 190 accounts for 60% and Subclass 491 for 40%. Subclass 491 SBO makes up 10% of the total quota, and local graduates a further 10%.

Subclass 190 and Subclass 491 each have 1,200 places remaining — across the next three months, that’s 2,400 places combined between Subclass 190 and Subclass 491!
All Subclass 491 places are very likely to be released in force!
Will Subclass 190 be released in force too?

139914 The Quality Assurance Manager plans, organises, directs, controls and coordinates the deployment of an organisation’s quality systems and certification programmes.

1. Complete a skills assessment for Quality Assurance Manager. The assessing authority is VETASSESS Group B, which sets the following requirements for this nominated occupation:
– A bachelor’s degree or higher (highly relevant fields include quality studies and quality management);
– If your field is relevant to the nominated occupation: at least 1 year of relevant post-qualification work experience within the last 5 years;
– If your field is not highly relevant but you hold a diploma, advanced diploma, associate degree or postgraduate qualification in a related field: at least 2 years of relevant work experience after your bachelor’s degree within the last 5 years;
– If your field is not highly relevant and you have no other related qualification: at least 3 years of relevant post-qualification work experience within the last 5 years.

2. While completing the skills assessment, you need to achieve at least IELTS 6 in each of the four bands, and aim higher if you can.
3. Combine points from work experience, qualifications, age and so on to reach at least 60 points to lodge for Subclass 190, or 50 points to lodge for Subclass 491.

1. Complete a skills assessment for Research and Development Manager. The assessing authority is VETASSESS Group B, which sets the following requirements for this nominated occupation:
– A bachelor’s degree or higher (fields such as science, engineering, materials science, agriculture, pharmacy, medical science, textiles, aviation science, computer science, technology and the like);
– If your field is relevant to the nominated occupation: at least 1 year of relevant post-qualification work experience within the last 5 years;
– If your field is not highly relevant but you hold a diploma, advanced diploma, associate degree or postgraduate qualification in a related field: at least 2 years of relevant work experience after your bachelor’s degree within the last 5 years;
– If your field is not highly relevant and you have no other related qualification: at least 3 years of relevant post-qualification work experience within the last 5 years.

Next up is the occupation of Conference and Event Organiser. This occupation mainly organises and coordinates the services for conferences, events, functions, banquets and seminars. Event planners, exhibition organisers and wedding coordinators can all migrate to Australia through 149311 Conference and Event Organiser.

1. Complete a skills assessment for 149311 Conference and Event Organiser. This occupation falls under VETASSESS Group C, which sets the following requirements for this nominated occupation:
– A diploma or higher, with highly relevant fields including event management, hospitality management, marketing, media, communications or public relations;
– If your field is relevant to the nominated occupation: at least 1 year of relevant post-qualification work experience within the last 5 years;
– If your diploma field is not highly relevant but you hold a Certificate IV in a related field: at least 1 year of relevant post-qualification work experience within the last 5 years;
– If your field is not highly relevant and you have no other related qualification: at least 2 years of relevant post-qualification work experience within the last 5 years.
2. While completing the skills assessment, you need to achieve at least IELTS 6 in each of the four bands, and aim higher if you can.

224712 Organisation and Methods Analysts study organisational structures, methods, systems and procedures. If you work in business process management and structural optimisation — for example, mapping and analysing an organisation’s workflow charts, defining job functions and recommending solutions to organisational problems — you may also have a chance to migrate to Australia!

1. Complete a skills assessment. The assessing authority for Organisation and Methods Analysts is VETASSESS, and it sits in the VET B occupation category. The requirements are as follows:
– A relevant bachelor’s degree or higher; both Business Management and Organisation Management count as relevant qualifications. You then need relevant work experience;
– If your bachelor’s field is relevant: at least 1 year of relevant post-qualification work experience within the last 5 years;
– If your bachelor’s field is not highly relevant but you hold a diploma, advanced diploma, associate degree or postgraduate qualification in a related field: at least 2 years of relevant work experience after your bachelor’s degree within the last 5 years;
– If your field is not highly relevant and you have no other related qualification: at least 3 years of relevant post-qualification work experience within the last 5 years.
