Why wait? At the end of the financial year there are still plenty of “bargain” migration pathways in Australia! Accountants granted in two weeks; invited at 65 points; hundreds of invitations still being issued!

End of the financial year…

A month and a half left in this financial year

With only a month and a half left in the 22-23 financial year, plenty of you have been asking during consultations:
“Will invitations still be issued this financial year?Should I wait until the new financial year to start preparing?”
“Aren’t the quotas all used up, so no more invitations?Should I just wait and see?”
“We still don’t know what the new financial year’s policy will look like—is it better to wait a bit longer?

Wait? What are you waiting for?

The early bird gets the worm

The end of the financial year still offers plenty of “bargain” opportunities—and this year, more than ever~
With a month and a half still on the clock, let’s run through the pathways you can still “grab a bargain” on before the financial year ends

/ Subclass 482 Employer Sponsorship /

-Lodge before 1 July and you won’t be affected by the salary threshold rise to 70,000
From the new financial year, the salary requirement for the Subclass 482 will rise from the current $53900 to 70000. The Department of Home Affairs has now confirmed on its official website that any nomination lodged before 1 July (regardless of whether it is approved before 1 July) will still be assessed against the $53900 requirement
So lodging within this financial year not only avoids the impact of the policy change raising the requirements,it also lets you enjoy the benefit of another policy change: short-list occupations can now transition to permanent residency too, with the work requirement reduced from 3 years to 2 years.

-The Subclass 482 Employer Sponsorship has no financial-year grant quota cap
Applications can be lodged and processed at any time of the year

-Lodge any time, with processing accelerating at the end of the financial year
For most of this financial year the wait time has been just 3-6 months, and recently, as the financial year closes, processing has accelerated further—we’ve had a good number of nominations approved or visas granted within just 1 month

A success story we had granted on 17 May was only lodged on 2 May—an accounting case granted in just two weeks!

On 16 May, a case we lodged last week had both the nomination and the visa approved this week, with the nominated occupation being Marketing Specialist.

A reminder once more:more 【largely confirmed】 good news for the Subclass 482—after two years of work you can transition to PR, and more than 200 additional occupations will be able to transition directly to PR, such as marketing specialists, finance roles and many IT occupations—all set to take effect before 2023!
Employer sponsorship is the next hot pathway—if you have some work experience, get in touch with us now and “lock it in” early!

/ Subclass 186 Employer Sponsorship /

Many people may have overlooked it, but over the past few financial years the category with the largest grant quota has not been state nomination, much less the Subclass 189—it has been the Subclass 186 Employer Sponsorship. This financial year there are 35000 places, and in the new financial year that rises to 36825.

Because its grant quota is the most generous and relatively few people are familiar with this pathway, the Subclass 186 is still being processed normally right up to the end of the financial year. The 186 Direct Entry stream isn’t processed as fast as the 482, but it’s a one-step path straight to PR!

We had a nomination lodged in the middle of last year (an accounting occupation) approved this week!

If you have 2-3 years of work experience, you’re welcome to contact us for an assessment!

As at the end of April, half of thestate-nominated pathwayshave closed off due to insufficient quota—but that still leaves the other half, doesn’t it?And that’s the half where you can still “grab a bargain”!

NSW Subclass 491

As at the end of April there were still 2435 places remaining, the NO.1 across all pathways, and it has been issuing invitations round after round recently, here’s a summary of the most recent rounds:

Computing, engineering, marketing, advertising, PR, management, project and finance majors of all kinds—reach 50 points on your own and you have a chance of being invited; especially, especially well suited to offshore applicants!

Canberra State Nomination

-Canberra is also a pathway with plenty of quota left—over 1200 places across its two categories combined

-and last month the financial year saw a policy change announced, which especially lowered the threshold for offshore applications. The invitation results after the requirements were lowered show that matrix scores did not rise as a result. Offshore applicants still need only a matrix score of 50 to obtain the 491, and just 70 for the 190!

-Canberra State Nomination is one of the most stable state nomination programmes in recent years; having made fairly broad adjustments to its requirements and lists this financial year, it should largely remain stable in the new financial year

The minimum requirements for an offshore application to Canberra State Nomination are simply:
-Reach 50 points on your own EOI
-Have a skills assessment
-English at four 6s
-One year of relevant work experience in the nominated occupation

Ample quota, stable policy and no need to compete on points—Canberra is a “bargain” worth grabbing, and also a top pick for the new financial year.

WA State Nomination

-WA also has a fair amount of quota left—as at the end of April there were close to 2000 places for the 190 and close to 1000 for the 491; however, because WA processes slowly, the backlog of applications may be substantial, so the number actually available for new invitations is not that large

-In WA, whether for the 190 or the 491, the invitation cut-off scores have already dropped to their lowest, with 65-70 points on your EOI you have a strong chance of being picked up in the next round

Neither the 190 nor the 491 requires relevant work experience, English only needs to be four 6s,and the advantage of the 491 is that no local job offer is required
-This financial year WA has continued to invite those relocating locally, and for the new financial year they have indicated they will request 10,000 places—we’ll wait and see.

Likewise, WA also offers ample quota, stable policy and no need to compete on points—a “bargain” worth grabbing, and also a top pick for the new financial year.

Queensland—has quota, but….

Tasmania—for those already in the pipeline in the state, we’re hoping they’ll get over the line this financial year

Skills Assessment
Of course, as always we recommend getting your skills assessment done as soon as possible, so that when an opportunity arises you can lodge straight away. Without a skills assessment, your options in Australian skilled migration are fairly limited.
