Let’s take a look
First up, the headline grant news we must lead with this week is that Subclass 491-to-191 grants have started coming through! There were many grants on both 9 and 10 August, and more again today on 11 August — including applications lodged between December last year and March this year. For the full round-up, see:491-to-191 grants finally confirmed — multiple approvals, and the round-up is here! Take a look at the popular offshore 491 stream!?
VETASSESS Skills Assessment Successfully Overturned
The client’s May application was refused because the wrong occupation had been chosen. In June she came to us to see whether it could be overturned. Her work history was fairly complex, with various changes of role and title, as well as changes to company structure and organisation. After our lawyers and agents carefully drew out and organised the evidence, however, we identified a more suitable occupation — Organisation and Methods Analyst! Ensuring the evidence did not conflict with what had been lodged previously, we prepared a complete new application plus submission! Lodged in late July and approved today — with no telephone interview!

Subclass 500 Student Visa Successfully Overturned at the AAT
The client was refused on a fresh student-visa application simply because she had been studying in Australia for nearly 10 years…Our lawyer used a 31-page submission to respond point by point to the case officer’s concerns, fully demonstrating the client’s genuine study history over nearly 10 years, and ultimately persuaded the AAT Member to overturn the decision

Student’s Parents’ Visitor Visa Refusal Successfully Overturned
The visitor visa for an international student’s parents was overturned and granted. The parents wanted to visit their child studying here. After a template-style lodgement through a travel agency in February resulted in a template-style refusal, they came to our specialist consultants mid-year, who assessed the case and drew out the evidence, concluded it could be re-lodged, and both husband and wife were granted just one week after lodgement!
Visitor Visa Granted for a 35-Year-Old Client
With no relatives in Australia and running a sole-trader business in China, the client wanted to come to Australia first to see whether it suited them and their family before planning the next step. They contacted us for an assessment early in the year, and after roughly five months of drawing out and preparing the evidence, the client’s efforts and ours finally paid off — granted!

Northern Territory State Nomination Processing Begins
Work for the new financial year got under way on 11 August. We have MINT clients who received pre-approval, as well as general graduate clients who received formal nomination.
As in Canberra, because no allocation has been received, the state government can only advise that, once your application has been assessed, you will be notified of your formal nomination — but visas cannot yet be lodged for the time being.
