ANU’s merit-based admission rules
-
1. Round-based applications& & limited course places:
The Australian National University still has two intakes each year: February and 2 and 7. Applications are now assessed in monthly rounds.
All course places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If a course fills up in the first round of admissions, it will not open for a second round — so the earlier you apply, the sooner you secure your offer and the more peace of mind you’ll have.
-
2. Staged application:
Each round’s application process has 3 steps:
Application (Stage 1) (Stage 1)
Assessment (Stage 2) (Stage 2)
Results released (Stage 3) (Stage 3)
If your application is successful, ANU will issue offer letters within a set timeframe at the end of each stage. Applicants must accept the Offer within the deadline; if it is not accepted by then, the offer.
-
3. Merit-based admission:
Offer places are distributed evenly across the students in each round.
The university makes its decisions on a merit basis, taking into account GPA, English language scores and the individual requirements of each programme.
-
4. English requirements must be met before enrolment
Students with an Australian undergraduate study background may be exempt from the English entry requirement.
Students with an overseas study background are advised to sit their English test first before submitting an application.
-
5. Application restrictions
You may only select one programme at a time; to defer your start date, you must reapply to the university.
We’d also like to recommend ANU’s 1-year programmes.

UTS animation production
UTS College has launched a brand-new pathway into UTS undergraduate study for the next generation of visual creatives: the Diploma of Animation Production (Diploma of Animation Production).
The course commences in Semester 1, 2024, and students who successfully complete it can progress directly into UTS the Bachelor of Animation Production (Bachelor of Animation Production), entering the second year of the degree.
According to the Australian Government’s recently released report on the growth of Australia’s creative industries, demand for animation graduates in Australia is rising steadily. The report finds that the creative sector is facing a talent shortage, with skilled animation professionals in particularly short supply.
This diploma is taught by experts from the design, animation and creative industries. Through an innovative studio-based teaching model, students develop the foundational knowledge and skills of animation production through hands-on practice, so that during their UTS studies they master the essential skills they’ll need for their future careers.
On successfully completing the diploma, students progress directly into the second year of the UTS Bachelor of Animation Production, with the diploma credits counting towards their total university credit. The course builds the capabilities students need to become leaders in the animation industry — such as creating original content for television, film, advertising and other media, and helping to drive cultural and intellectual development.
UTSThe animation teaching staff are internationally renowned professionals whose work is widely acclaimed and award-winning.UTS has also built strong partnerships with leading Sydney animation studios such as Flying Bark Productions and Animal Logic. Students not only get to connect with industry leaders while studying for their degree, but also have the chance to take part in arts projects such as South by Southwest (SXSW) and VIVID, and to have their work screened at world-famous film festivals such as the Sundance Film Festival, the Sydney Film Festival, the Melbourne International Film Festival and the Zagreb International Animation Festival.
