Is the Skilled Migration points reform arriving in 2026?

Iscah has released another big update — proposed reforms to the Skilled Migration points test and to the regional migration settings are due to be submitted to the government early next year.

The multi-year state nomination plan has stalled, and the federal government still wants flexible control over the annual invitation allocation.

The recommendations will be submitted early next year — but when will they actually take effect? Will they land in the new financial year starting July 2026, or not until 2027? What do you think? And how do you think the system should be reformed to be fair?
