Offshore ICT Worker: Subclass 482 Employer Sponsorship Granted in Six Months
Visa Grant Records
Case background:
Mr Q, aged 37, holds a diploma-level qualification and has more than six years of experience in ICT support. His PTE overall score was 53 (roughly equivalent to IELTS 5). He first came to us asking about points-based skilled migration, such as Subclass 189 and Subclass 190. But his English was not strong: with a real push he might have reached four 6s, and even that would only have met the entry requirement for points-based skilled migration.
A friend in Australia
We told him plainly at the first consultation that, as things stood, points-based skilled migration was unlikely: it would mean sustained effort on his part, followed by a long wait. Given his six-plus years of experience, we suggested he also look for work opportunities in Australia. At that point he mentioned he had friends in Australia and could ask around.
Two to three months later he came back to say he had lined up a possible job and wanted to know whether the employer could sponsor him. The business sells restaurant robotics, payment systems and kitchen equipment, a close fit for Mr Q’s ICT background. The employer valued his experience and was willing to provide sponsorship. After working through the detail, we concluded the Subclass 482 could be the primary pathway.
Signed up and moving at full speed
Mr Q moved decisively, and the employer was keen to have him in the country and on the job as soon as possible.
